The Pot, the Soil, and the Journey

Music: “Lady Palm” by Aliza Love plays softly in the background. Candles flicker, casting golden shadows across the room. The scent of sandalwood and clove incense drifts through the air, curling like memories.
I drove past my old storefront tonight.
Nothing out of the ordinary—I pass by two or three times a year since I closed it. But tonight felt different. Instead of sadness or defeat, I felt something else rise up inside me: empowerment. Peace. A quiet dauntlessness.
It reminded me of the story in The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. In it, a young boy sets out in search of his treasure, chasing the idea that his purpose lies somewhere far beyond him. But as you turn the pages, you begin to understand that it was never really about the treasure—it was about the journey. The people he met. The lessons he learned. The wisdom and tools he gained along the way.
That hit me differently tonight.
Because what good is your treasure if you haven’t learned how to hold it? If you don’t know how to share it? How can you know its worth if you’ve never been taught to see its value? And even if you receive it… do you have the courage to use it the way it’s meant to be used?
That book helped me shift the way I see myself—and what I once thought was my purpose. Back when I had that shop, I clung to what I thought I was. But in truth, I was holding myself back.
Energy has to move. It has to flow. You cannot grow if you don’t feed yourself. You cannot bloom without light. And just like a garden, you need wind. You need pollination. You need an ecosystem that supports your growth.
Tonight, as I drove by that old building, I didn’t see failure. I didn’t see a closed chapter.I saw a beginning.I saw fertile ground.
That shop wasn’t the end—it was the pot I was planted in. And now, I am the soil. I am the roots. I am the one who gets to decide how deeply I grow and how far I bloom.
You can be yours, too.You are the soil. You are the sun. You are the wind. And your journey—every step, every stumble, every sacred pause—is preparing you to hold your treasure with grace.

✍🏾 Guided Journal Prompt: The Pot, The Soil, and Your Growth
Set the Scene:Light a candle.Play “Lady Palm” by Aliza Love or another soft instrumental track.Breathe in deeply. Let your body soften.
Now, begin to write:
🌱 What is a space in your life (past or present) that you once thought was a failure, but now recognize as part of your growth?
What lessons did you take with you?
What did that “pot” prepare you for?
🌿 In what areas of your life are you currently growing—even if it doesn’t feel like it yet?
How are you feeding yourself—mentally, emotionally, spiritually?
What light are you allowing in?
🌬️ Where might you need more “wind” or movement to help pollinate new ideas or transformations?
Who or what could be part of your ecosystem to help you bloom?
🍓 How can you share your fruit—your wisdom, your healing, your journey—with someone else?
What does it look like to become the soil for someone else’s growth?
End your journaling session with this affirmation:“I honor every space that once held me. I am the soil now, and I grow with purpose, grace, and divine timing.”
